Southern raised, Los Angeles based contemporary artist and designer Hannah Streety, came from a family of creative interior design enthusiasts. This instilled in her at a very young age a passion for art and all facets of design, as well as an aspiration to begin drawing and creating her own artwork. Hannah received a BA in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting, along with a minor in Marketing from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Thereafter, she enjoyed a brief stint in New York City, where she completed an internship in the fashion department of NYLON Magazine;  then subsequently went on to assist one of the Industry’s most well renowned celebrity fashion stylists. Whilst navigating the fashion scene in NYC, Hannah became immensely inspired by the street style, street art, the night life, the architecture and museums, but ultimately decided to bottle up all that inspiration to go reconnect with nature on the West Coast. Now, In Los Angeles, California, she made the switch from working in High Fashion editorial styling to wardrobe styling for Film and Television. This would only further her desire to design her own street style clothing and textiles brand, aptly named HelenBob, after her immensely supportive mother and father. All of this occurring, whilst of course, continuing to cultivate her own unique style of colorful, textured, minimalist; yet somehow flirting with maximalist, body of artwork. In her latest series, she incorporates the traditional Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi and conceptual minimalism. This refers to a humble and rustic beauty found in simplicity and a life lived in harmony with nature. A life where beauty is found in things that are imperfect, flawed and asymmetrical. The composition of each of Hannah’s pieces is thoughtfully carried out through her masterful application of color theory and her ability to blend the abstract and the figurative, with well placed pops of textural surprises; surprises that act as little Easter eggs signifying her work. Each painting introduces color, character and uplifting introspection, drawing distinct inspiration from urban landscapes and wildlife. Her art is sure to make any home feel more alive with vibrance, excitement, and a little Feng Sui.
