ABOUT

ROLLAND BERRY

Rolland Berry is a contemporary artist of Native American heritage, internationally acclaimed for fusing Neo‑Pop, graffiti, and fine art through his signature process of hand‑pulled silkscreens, bold color fields, layered collage, aerosol, and fine painting. Trained on scholarship at both Otis College of Art and Design and ArtCenter College of Design (Pasadena), Berry bridged the raw pulse of Los Angeles street culture with rigorously classical technique, developing a voice that moves effortlessly between the street and the studio. He has since translated those skills into large-scale murals, luxury brand collaborations, and fine art collected around the world.

Institutional & Global Presence

  • Exhibited in Urban Nation Museum’s inaugural street art survey (Berlin) and at the Museum of Modern Art, Xi’an, China.

  • Featured at Art Basel in Miami, Hong Kong, and Basel since 2015.

  • Works held in the permanent collections of Swizz Beatz’s “Dean Collection,” Urban Nation Museum, Xi’an Museum of Modern Art, Diesel Gallery Tokyo, and by private collectors such as Joe Manganiello, Sofia Vergara, Billy Idol, and Juliette Lewis.

Signature Projects & Collaborations

  • Aston Martin Art Car (LA Auto Show, 2019) — a 200 mph kinetic sculpture merging high-performance design with abstract fine art.

  • Oakland Super‑Mural — the city’s longest, officially landmarked public artwork.

  • Brand collaborations with NFL, Levi’s®, Adidas®, Reebok®, PF Flyers®, and Barneys New York CO-OP—fusing fine art with streetwear and luxury retail.

  • Berry’s own brand, COLUR, is widely recognized as a precursor to modern streetwear culture.

Craft & Aesthetic

A third-generation heir to the Pop Art silkscreen tradition, Berry elevates the hand‑pulled print into a powerful fine-art medium. His studio practice merges brushwork, aerosol, oil, stencil, collage, and printmaking, producing works that are both visually dense and emotionally resonant. His method is intuitive and improvisational, guided by the belief that:

“Every action begins with a thought, and what you're seeing is the wake of my thoughts in physical form,I am not painting!!.”

On Rolland, from Shepard Fairey

“Collaborating on art with Rolland—whose punk art/fashion sensibility echoes the DIY screen printing of the ’80s—was the perfect bridge between the art and fashion that shaped my life. His meticulous craftsmanship conjures the oxymoron punk‑rock master craftsman.”
—Shepard Fairey, MAYDAY

Teaching & Outreach

Berry has served as a visiting professor at universities in China, leading intensive workshops on printmaking, street art, and creative thinking. His instruction demystifies traditional techniques and empowers the next generation through experimentation and accessibility.

Cultural Reach & Collections

Rolland Berry’s work is represented in major private and institutional collections worldwide. His career reflects a rare duality—“His work occupies space in both institutional archives and private vaults.” while maintaining his street-level catalyst, operating across worlds without compromise.
